Ensuring that every resident of Kogi State has access to qualitative and affordable healthcare services.
The journey of the creation of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA) dates back to the power conferred on the State Government to establish a State Health Insurance Agency for the purpose of administering Health Insurance scheme in the State with the ultimate goal of collectively ensuring the Nation achieve the global target of Universal Health coverage by 2030. In line with the foregoing, KGSHIA was established to provide equitable access to quality and affordable healthcare services for all residents of Kogi State. The Bill establishing KGSHIA into law was passed by Kogi State House of Assembly on November 14, 2018 which was graciously assented to by His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State on April 24, 2019. The law therefore establishes Kogi State Health Insurance Agency and other matters connected there with. KGSHIA is headed by the pioneer Executive Secretary Dr. Aledare Adekunle who oversees the Agency.
The bill establishing the agency was passed into law on November 18, 2018, and the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello assented to the law in April 24, 2019.
The Kogi Health Insurance Agency has enrolled over 31,000 enrollees across Kogi state.
There are currently over 300 accredited health facilities under The Kogi Health Insurance Agency across the State where enrollees of the agency can access care.
